2026 NTHU Hospital Joint Research Program Announcement

1. Eligibility
   1. Full-time faculty members at assistant professor level or above.
   2. Project PIs and co-PIs must not be out of the country for more than three consecutive months during the project execution year. Those with long-term travel plans are not eligible to serve as PIs or co-PIs.
2. Application Limits per PI
   1. VGHUST (Veterans General Hospitals and University System of Taiwan) Joint Research Program: Each PI is limited to one application.
   2. Other Hospital Programs: Each PI may apply for only one program. If a multi-year project has already been approved for the execution year, it is considered one application, and no new applications can be submitted.
3. New Application Requirement for This Year
   1. PIs who have previously applied for hospital programs (excluding the VGHUST Joint Research Program) must publish a related paper within "three years" after the project ends to be eligible to apply again. Proof of publication must be provided at the time of application.
   2. Exception: This restriction does not apply if the project concluded less than three years ago. For example, for 2026 applications, projects concluded in 2022 must provide publication proof, while projects concluded in 2023 and after do not need to.
   3. Definition of Related Paper Publication
      1. Both PIs from the collaborating institutions must be authors of the paper.
      2. The paper must indicate the names of both institutions.
      3. The acknowledgements section of the paper must state "National Tsing Hua University/(Full Hospital Name) Joint Research Program" and clearly cite the project number in the format: "NTHU-(Hospital Abbreviation)-Project Number" (e.g., 114QF***E1, 114F7***E1).

4. Project Categories
   1. New This Year: "Highlight Project"
      1. Each hospital program will fund up to 3 Highlight Projects.
      2. Funding for Highlight Projects will be double that of general projects to promote outstanding research outcomes and enhance value.
      3. If a Highlight Project is not selected, it will be transferred for review as a general collaborative project.

5. Application Method
   1. Please upload the project proposal to the system by the deadline. NTHU application path: "Academic Information System" > " Office of R&D Information System" > "System Portal Site" > "Hospital Project Name."
   2. This program requires separate submissions from both institutions. Applicants from both sides must submit their applications independently to their respective institutions simultaneously. Please pay attention to the PI qualifications and procedures during the application process and proceed as required.
6. Other Important Notes
   1. For projects involving human trials, animal trials, infectious disease trials, and gene recombination trials, proof of approval from the relevant committee must be obtained at the time of application. If such proof is not attached at the time of application, it must be obtained and submitted before project execution begins. Project funds can only be used and reimbursed after the supplementary submission is complete.
   2. After the project concludes, please submit the final report according to each hospital program's regulations and participate in the results presentation.
