Hsin-Chu Branch Joint Research Program

1. Project Period: A maximum of 3 years since 2027/1/1
2. Project Type: Each project must be co-hosted by a teacher from National Tsing Hua University with a physician from hospital.
   1. Individual research project:
      1. Research Topics: Interdisciplinary biomedical research, with encouragement for exploratory or novel studies.
   2. Continuation projects:
      1. Applicants shall submit a proposal for the 2027 continuation project in accordance with the original project objectives and the prescribed proposal format and requirements.
      2. Continuation applications are limited to one cycle. If the continuation proposal is rejected, reapplication will not be accepted the following year.
   3. Highlighted Projects:
      1. Designed to emphasize research impact and elevate project value; the maximum funding is double that of regular projects.
      2. Unselected theme projects will be redirected to the general collaboration review process.
      3. 2027 Focus Theme: Precision Medicine – Limited to clinically applicable research within two years.
      4. Applicants must submit an execution plan summary (max. 300 words) when applying.
3. Qualifications for Principal Investigator:
   1. National Tsing Hua University
      1. Full-time faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, or full-time research personnel at the rank of Assistant Research Fellow or above (excluding personnel affiliated with the College of Semiconductor Research).
      2. Principal investigators (including co-investigators) must not travel abroad for more than three consecutive months during the project year. Those with existing plans for long-term overseas travel are ineligible to serve as principal or co-investigators.
      3. Each investigator may apply for only one hospital collaboration project per execution year. Approved multi-year projects count toward the one-project limit. Please refer to2027 NTHU Hospital Joint Research Program.

3. 1. 1. Must be full-time hospital staff and currently enrolled doctoral students at NTHU,
      2. or attending physicians (or equivalent and above),
      3. or postdoctoral researchers.
4. Funding Guidelines:
   1. Budget allocations must not include fixed equipment purchases. The principle of budgeting shall comply with the rules of these two institutions.
   2. The project budget shall be jointly funded by both institutions, with each party contributing 50% of the total funding annually. The maximum annual funding request for each project is NT$1.4 million, with a funding cap of NT$700,000 per institution per year.
5. Application Period: August 1 to August 31, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.

6. Application Procedure:
   1. Please upload the project proposal to the system by the deadline. NTHU application path: "Academic Information System" > " Office of R&D Information System" > "System Portal Site" > "Hospital Project Name."
   2. Proposals must be submitted to both institutions separately. Applicants from each side should follow their respective application guidelines and verify their eligibility.

7. Additional Reminders:
   1. Projects involving human trials, animal experiments, infectious agents, or genetic recombination must include ethical approval documents at the time of application. If such documents are not available at application time, they must be submitted before project execution; funding cannot be accessed until approval is verified.

7. 2. After the project concludes, please submit the final report according to each hospital program's regulations and participate in the results presentation.
   3. Proposal Format: Applicants must use the 2027 proposal template provided in the attachment. Proposals that do not conform to the prescribed format will be returned.
