2025 National Tsing Hua University- National Health Research Institutes Joint Research Program
- Project Period: A maximum of 2 years since 2027/1/1
- Project Type: Each project shall be jointly led by one NHRI investigator and one NTHU investigator. The project gives priority to assistant professor, associate professor, assistant investigator and associate investigator.
- Individual research project:
- Research Topics: Interdisciplinary biomedical research, with encouragement for exploratory or novel studies.
- Continuation projects:
- Applicants shall submit a proposal for the 2027 continuation project in accordance with the original project objectives and the prescribed proposal format and requirements.
- Continuation applications are limited to one cycle. If the continuation proposal is rejected, reapplication will not be accepted the following year.
- Qualifications for Principal Investigator:
- National Tsing Hua University
- Full-time faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, or full-time research personnel at the rank of Assistant Research Fellow or above (excluding personnel affiliated with the College of Semiconductor Research).
- Principal investigators (including co-investigators) must not travel abroad for more than three consecutive months during the project year. Those with existing plans for long-term overseas travel are ineligible to serve as principal or co-investigators.
- Each investigator may apply for only one hospital collaboration project per execution year. Approved multi-year projects count toward the one-project limit. Please refer to 2027 NTHU Hospital Joint Research Program.

- Funding Guidelines:
- Budget allocations must not include fixed equipment purchases. The principle of budgeting shall comply with the rules of these two institutions.
- The project budget shall be jointly funded by both institutions, with each party contributing 50% of the total funding annually. The maximum annual funding request for each project is NT$1.4 million, with a funding cap of NT$700,000 per institution per year.
- Application Period: From the date of announcement until 12:00 PM on August 31, 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted.
- Application Procedure:
- Please upload the project proposal to the system by the deadline. NTHU application path: "Academic Information System" > " Office of R&D Information System" > "System Portal Site" > "Hospital Project Name."
- Proposals must be submitted to both institutions separately. Applicants from each side should follow their respective application guidelines and verify their eligibility.

- Special Research Compliance Requirements:
- For projects involving human clinical studies, recombinant DNA experiments, infectious biological materials, or animal experiments, applicants must obtain and submit approval documents issued by the relevant regulatory or ethics committees.
- Recipients of funding shall submit proof of protocol submission within one month of receiving the funding award notification and provide the corresponding approval documents within four months. The project title and implementation period specified in the approval documents must be consistent with those stated in the approved proposal.
- Project funds will be released only after all required approvals have been obtained and submitted. Failure to provide the required documentation within the specified timeframe will be deemed a withdrawal from project implementation.
- Project Outcome Requirements:
- For two-year projects, a progress report or an oral presentation (subject to adjustment as necessary) must be submitted at the end of the first year for performance review. Continued funding for the second year is contingent upon satisfactory review results, and the funding amount will be determined based on the review outcome. Funding may be terminated if project progress fails to meet expectations. At least one of the two Principal Investigators must personally participate in the project presentation; student representatives may not attend on behalf of the project team.
- Publications arising from this program must acknowledge support from the National Tsing Hua University/National Health Research Institutes Joint Research Program in the Acknowledgments section. The project number must also be clearly cited using the following format: "NTHU-NHRI-Project Number" (e.g., 114QF***E1, 114F7***E1).
- Proposal Format: Applicants must use the 2027 proposal template provided in the attachment. Proposals that do not conform to the prescribed format will be returned.
