2025 National Tsing Hua University- Kaohsiung Medical University Joint Research Grant

  1. Project Period: 2025/1/1 - 2025/12/31
  2. Project Type:
    1. Individual research project: will be co-hosted by a teacher from National Tsing Hua University with a physician from Kaohsiung Medical University.
    2. Continuation project:
      1. Please submit the final report of the first phase and the application for the continuation plan of the second phase according to the original planning direction and the relevant prescribed format.
      2. If the continuation plan fails to pass the review, the plan will no longer accept applications for subsidies.
      3. The application for the continuation plan is limited to one continuation.
    3. Integrated research project:
      1. The maximum total budget for each project is 3 million NTD.
      2. The project must include a main project and at least three sub-projects, with a maximum of five sub-projects. The principal investigator (PI) of the main project must also serve as the PI for one of the sub-projects. Each project (including the main project and sub-projects) must comply with the guidelines for individual projects and be jointly led by one member from NTHU and one from KMU.
  3. Research Topic: Combine basic and clinical medicine, focus on academic excellence, technology and application innovation.
  4. Qualifications for Principal Investigator:

National Tsing Hua University

    1. A staff above the level of assistant professor.
    2. Every principle investigator can apply for one cooperation plan. Please refer to 2025 NTHU Hospital Joint Research Grant
    3. Performance Indicator Guidelines:
      1. Teams that receive funding in this (113th) year must submit supporting documentation that meets one of the following criteria within three years after the completion of the project (years 114-116) in order to be eligible to apply for new projects in the following years:
        1. For individual and continuation plan: The principal investigators from both institutes must have published at least one original research paper as the first or corresponding author (including co-authorship) with both universities credited as co-authors.
        2. For integrated research project: The teams must provide proof of application for integrated projects submitted to domestic or international government agencies (such as the National Science and Technology Council, National Health Research Institutes, Academia Sinica, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industrial Technology Research Institute, etc.). For a single integrated project, the PI must provide proof of your roles as principal investigators or co-principal investigator.
      2. Predatory journals should be excluded (as identified by the NTU College of Medicine: https://rd.mc.ntu.edu.tw/bomrd/ntu2/file.asp?filename=2023926135044.pdf).
      3. For those who received funding in the 112th & 113th year, or who have achieved related outcomes through collaboration (such as journal publications or external applications/approvals of integrated projects), it is recommended to clearly state and provide supporting documentation when applying to assist the review committee in their evaluation.
  1. Request for Appropriation: No fixed equipment is allowed to be arranged.
  2. When to apply: August 26 to September 30, 2024 applications overdue will not be approved.

  4. Notice:
    1. Please note to the qualifications of the participants of MacKay Memorial Hospital, the application format and process of the hospital. Application should be handled according to the regulations.
    2. If the project involves with human subject research, IRB review shall be submitted after receiving the grant. The same requirement also applies to those projects which involve with animal experiment, genetic recombination experiment, and infectious biological materials.
